TianHe Project (Agreement in place) – Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region

Tianhe Project Location

Typical Inner Mongolia Wind Farm

The TianHe Project  (phase 1) is an advanced stage development effort proposed for a 50MW turbine installation with all approvals in place and a site ready for construction commencing in April 2010. The location has been determined to be a robust wind resource offering favorable conditions for annualized wind power generation. The Project is located in Abaga Huitengliang District, Xilinguole League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The primary objective of the proposed project is to generate renewable electricity to meet the ever-increasing demand in the North China Power Grid (NCPG). Phase 1 of the project involves installation of 49.95MW, 50 sets wind turbines with capacity of 1MW of each.  The TianHe Phase 2 project is planned for an additional 50MW later this year subject to permitting and approvals which will be undertaken by Far East.

The implementation of the proposed project will achieve CO2 emission reduction by replacing electricity generated by fossil fuel fired power plants. The purpose of the proposed project is to generate zero-emission wind power and deliver it to North China Power Grid (NCPG).

The proposed project will not only supply renewable electricity to the grid, but also contribute to sustainable development of the local community and the host country by means of:

  • Supplying reliable and zero-emission renewable energy to NCPG;
  • Saving the coal and optimize the local energy structure;
  • Increasing temporary and permanent job opportunities;
  • Decreasing the GHG emission by reducing the electricitygeneration from the fossil-fuel power plants, particularly the emission of SOx, NOx and soot.

The project site is located in Abaga Huitengliang District, which is in the middle of Xilinguole League, 57.1km away from Xilinhaote City. The altitude of the proposed project site ranges from 1420m to 1450m.

The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is located in the northern side of the People’s Republic of China. Its capital is Hohhot and the largest city is Baotou.

Inner Mongolia borders, from east to west, the provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and Gansu, while to the north it borders the Republic of Mongolia and Russia. It is the third-largest subdivision of China spanning about 463,000 square miles or 12% of China's total land area. It has a population of over 24 million.
