Han Project Location
Hui Teng Liang grassland belt
Mongolia – A huge untapped wind resource region
The Han Wind project
area, situated in the Hui Teng Liang grassland belt (the largest grassland in China), and is located in the middle of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region 65km south of the city of Xi Lin Hao Te (regional population of 940,000). Available wind data in the area shows annual average wind speed of above 8.5 m/s (meters per second). The location is considered to be a very attractive location for wind farm development with proximity to a large regional population, suitable road and train transportation, power transmission lines and substations. The initial project comes with preliminary rights from the local government for wind development and consists of a development property encompassing an area of 188 square kilometers in size with a recorded average annual wind speed in excess of 8 m/s. The property is 62 kilometers from a large and growing urban centre which includes a mix of both residential and industrial consumers. Plans for the project include a phase 1 stage to install up to 48 MW of wind turbines, and phase 2 plans are projected to increase the installation upwards to 300 MW or higher based on future demand considerations.
